China’s oil & gas industry registered a 4.5% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.52% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.33% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s oil & gas industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 49.12% in July 2022, registering an 86.67% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 21.05% share, an increase of 33.33% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 17.54%, registering a 23.08% decline from June 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.77%, up 66.67% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 215.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s oil & gas industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

BASF posted 33 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 266.67% over the previous month, followed by Koch Industries with 4 jobs and a 300% growth. Halliburton with 2 IT jobs and Royal DSM with 1 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Baker Hughes recorded a decline of 50% with 1 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.16%, up by 20% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.56% share, registered an increase of 100% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.28% share, up 40% over June 2022.
