Europe witnessed a 12.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

November 2022 has seen a decrease of 10.3% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.03% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2022, registering a decrease of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 43.58% in November 2022, a 4.03% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 24.32% in November 2022, marking a 43.31% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.51% in November 2022, a 29.82% drop from October 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 11.15% in November 2022, a 42.11% decline over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 69.23% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during November 2022 over previous month.

Sika posted 26 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a decline of 7.14% over the previous month, followed by BASF with 25 jobs and a 3.85% drop. Schlumberger with 22 IT jobs and PPG Industries with 19 jobs, recorded a 1000% rise and an 111.11% rise, respectively, while Fugro recorded a flat growth with 18 job postings during November 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 25.68% share in November 2022, a 39.68% decrease over October 2022. Germany featured next with a 23.65% share, down 7.89% over the previous month. France recorded a 9.8% share, a growth of 20.83% compared with October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.28%, down by 26.48% from October 2022. Entry Level positions with a 14.86% share, registered a growth of 10% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 13.51% share, down 21.57% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.34%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
