Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 28.57% in October 2022, a 41.67% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 24.49% in October 2022, marking a 20% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 18.37% in October 2022, a flat growth from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average flat growth in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Sasol posted 8 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered an increase of 300% over the previous month, followed by Saudi Arabian Oil with 6 jobs and a 72.73% drop. Baker Hughes with 6 IT jobs and Worley with 5 jobs, recorded a 50% rise and a 400% rise, respectively, while TotalEnergies recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry
Saudi Arabia commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 30.61% share in October 2022, a 40% decrease over September 2022. South Africa featured next with a 20.41% share, up 233.33% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 10.2% share, a drop of 16.67% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.22%, down by 11.76% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 34.69% share, registered a growth of 13.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.08% share, up 100% over September 2022.
