UK-based company Shell’s IT hiring declined 38.8% in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 30.62% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs claimed an 18.94% share in the company’s total hiring activity in October 2022, and recorded a 2.76% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Shell IT hiring in October 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Shell, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 50% in October 2022, and an 88% drop over September 2022, while Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a share of 16.67% in October 2022, and registered a decline of 85.71%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.33% in October 2022, a 75% drop from September 2022.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Shell

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in October 2022 with a 73.33% share, which marked an 87.5% drop over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 23.33%, registering a 79.41% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with a 3.33% share and a 75% drop over September 2022.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 66.67% share in October 2022, an 87.42% decline over September 2022. The UK featured next with a 20% share, down 73.91% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded a 6.67% share, a decline of 60% compared with September 2022.

Mid Level jobs lead Shell IT hiring activity in October 2022

Mid Level jobs held a share of 56.67%, down by 85.71% from September 2022. Junior Level positions with a 43.33% share, a decline of 85.06% compared with the previous month.
