UK-based company Shell’s IT hiring rose 11.7% in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity increased by 9.9% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

IT jobs claimed a 17.92% share in the company’s total hiring activity in May 2022, and recorded a 0.88% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Shell IT hiring in May 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Shell, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 49.48% in May 2022, and a 42.07% drop over April 2022, while Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a share of 20.83% in May 2022, and registered a decline of 33.33%. Computer Support Specialists held a share of 10.94% in May 2022, a 47.5% drop from April 2022.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Shell

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in May 2022 with an 84.9% share, which marked a 40.94% drop over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 13.54%, registering a 60.61% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with a 1.56% share and a 25% drop over April 2022.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with an 81.25% share in May 2022, a 33.62% decline over April 2022. The UK featured next with an 11.98% share, down 52.08% over the previous month. Netherlands recorded a 1.56% share, a decline of 25% compared with April 2022.

Junior Level jobs lead Shell IT hiring activity in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.81%, down by 41.27% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 35.94% share, a decline of 50.71% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.25% share, down 20% over April 2022.
