Singapore’s oil & gas industry registered a 13.3% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.04% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.36% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.82% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Singapore’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Singapore’s oil & gas industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.05% in October 2021, registering a 5.26% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 21.62% share, an increase of 300% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 13.51%, registering a 16.67% decline from September 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 5.41%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in Singapore’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 53.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Singapore’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Yara International posted 12 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 3 jobs and a 200% growth. Halliburton with 3 IT jobs and PetroChina with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 50% flat growth, respectively, while Schlumberger recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.86%, up by 20% from September 2021. Entry Level positions with a 27.03% share, registered an increase of 42.86% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 5.41% share, flat growth over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.7%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
