IT jobs accounted for a 10.8% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 1.48% over the last three-month average share.
Computer and Information Analysts Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Computer and Information Analysts Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 36.22% in October 2022, a 5.97% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 32.65% in October 2022, marking an 8.57% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 15.31% in October 2022, a 21.05% drop from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 4.92% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Ecopetrol posted 158 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 9.71% over the previous month, followed by Worley with 4 jobs and a 100% growth. Chevron with 4 IT jobs and TechnipFMC with 4 jobs, recorded a 100% rise and a 100% rise, respectively, while UPL recorded a 100% increase with 4 job postings during October 2022.

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with an 88.27% share in October 2022, a 12.18% decrease over September 2022. Argentina featured next with a 3.06% share, down 14.29% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 2.55% share, a drop of 28.57% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.53%, down by 8.54% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with an 11.22% share, registered a decline of 47.62% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 8.16% share, up 6.67% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 4.08%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
