The US’s oil & gas industry registered a 22.0% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 7.6% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.98% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.56% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.66% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry in February 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 52.64% in February 2022, registering a 68.63% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 15.15% share, an increase of 69.16% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 13.72%, registering a 46.43% rise from January 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 11.55%, up 15.97% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 150.2% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Koch Industries posted 447 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 402.25% over the previous month, followed by Air Products and Chemicals with 51 jobs and a 21.43% growth. Exxon Mobil with 50 IT jobs and Baker Hughes with 44 jobs, recorded a 19.05% flat growth and a 25.71% growth, respectively, while Henkel AGKGaA recorded a decline of 16.28% with 36 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.73%, up by 26.5% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.19% share, registered an increase of 93.21% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.66% share, up 134.74% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.42%, recording a month-on-month increase of 25%.
