Block 6 is a producing conventional oil field located onshore Oman and is operated by Petroleum Development Oman. The field is located in block Block 6 (North,Central & South Oman).

An expansion project is associated with the Block 6, namely Marmul Polymer Phase 3 (MPP3). This project is currently in the commissioning stage, expected to start in 2023.

Field participation details

The field is owned by TotalEnergies, PTT Public, Government of Oman and Shell.

Production from Block 6

The Block 6 conventional oil field recovered 71.03% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2001. The peak production was approximately 904.24 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 593 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2055. The field currently accounts for approximately 44% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 5,146.54 Mmboe, comprised of 4,274.08 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 5,234.78 bcf of natural gas reserves. Block 6 conventional oil field reserves accounts 1.12% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
