Bonga Southwest/Aparo is a conventional oil development located in deepwater in Nigeria and is operated by Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production. Discovered in 2001, Bonga Southwest/Aparo lies in block OML 118 (OPL 212P), OML 140 (OPL 249), and OML 132 (OPL 213), with water depth of around 4,395 feet.

The project is currently in approval stage and is expected to start commercial production in 2026. Final investment decision (FID) of the project will be approved in 2022. The Bonga Southwest/Aparo conventional oil development will involve the drilling of approximately 24 wells and includes FPSO and subsea trees.

The field is owned by Royal Dutch Shell, Eni, TotalEnergies, Chevron, Exxon Mobil and Lukoil Oil.


Production from Bonga Southwest/Aparo

Production from the Bonga Southwest/Aparo conventional oil development project is expected to begin in 2026 and is forecast to peak in 2027, to approximately 146,765 bpd of crude oil and condensate and 157 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, the production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2059.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 759.56 Mmboe, comprised of 644.86 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 688.17 bcf of natural gas reserves.
