Marcellus Shale witnessed a decrease of 2.52% in total oil and gas production to 5,348,442.38 boe/d in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.
The oil and gas production in Marcellus grew 0.82% in August 2021 from 5,304,809.25 boe/d in August 2020. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in the play increased by 7.95% from the same period in 2020.
In Marcellus, oil production declined 12.31% in August 2021 as compared with the previous month, while gas production decreased by 1.99% to 28,925.15 mmcf/d.
On a YTD basis, oil production in the play increased by 6.36% in 2021 when compared with the same period in 2020, while gas production rose by 5.93%. Out of the total oil and gas production in August 2021, oil held a 1.33% share, while gas had a 93.24% share.
In Marcellus, EQT emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 946,072.35 boe/d in August 2021, a decrease of 0.37% from the previous month. The company held a 10.15% share in oil production and 18.35% share in gas production in August 2021.
On a YTD basis, the company registered a 6.77% increase in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2020.
Compared with other counties within Marcellus Shale, Susquehanna county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 14.36% share in August 2021. The county witnessed a 1.22% increase in production to 768,226.95 boe/d in August 2021 when compared with the previous month.
On a YTD basis, it registered a decline of 2.36% in total production from the same period in 2020.
