Contracts in the pipeline segment in the oil and gas industry registered a decrease in activity by 3% in Q2 2021 with a total of 93 contracts, when compared with the previous quarter’s total of 96 contracts, according to GlobalData’s oil and gas contracts database.
A total of 93 contracts were recorded in the pipeline sector globally during the quarter, when compared with the last four-quarter moving average of 106 contracts.
The majority of contracts in the pipeline segment were in the onshore pipeline sub-segment with 86 contracts and an 89% share in Q2 2021. Offshore pipeline sub-segment witnessed 11 contracts, during the quarter.

North America held the top position with 50 contracts and a 54% share during Q2 2021, followed by Europe and Asia-Pacific with 18 contracts (19%) and 16 contracts (17%), respectively.
Contracts by scope of work in pipeline segment during Q2 2021
During the quarter, the majority of contracts in the pipeline segment were awarded in the operations & maintenance with 42 contracts, followed by installation and construction with 28 and 26 contracts, respectively.
