Sumed Line I, Egypt

Sumed Line I is a 320km-long onshore pipeline project operated by Arab Petroleum Pipelines. This oil pipeline, with a maximum diameter of 42 inches, starts at Suez (Egypt) and ends in Alexandria (Egypt).

The Sumed Line I project started operations in 1978 and is owned by Egyptian General Petroleum, Mubadala Investment, Saudi Arabian Oil, Qatar Petroleum, and others.


The Sumed Line I project is associated with the 320km Sumed Line II.

Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Oil Company, is oil and gas service provider that offers crude oil storage and transportation services. The company’s services include cargo tailoring, backloading, stock transfer, cargo topping, pre-lifting, Suez Canal lightering, commercial storage, disposal of sea garbage, and LBC services. It owns and operates various storage terminals such as Ain Sukhna Terminal, Dahshour Station and Sidi Kerir Terminal. SUMED also operates construction of truck loading facility for storage, loading, unloading and transportation of gasoil for EGPC to use for receiving and storing GASOIL in Ain Sukhna terminal. The company has operations throughout Egypt. SUMED is headquartered in Loran, Egypt
