ABL has secured a contract from LLOG Exploration to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services for the Salamanca Deepwater Project in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Under the agreement, ABL will be responsible for undertaking technical review and approval of all critical project documents.

The company’s responsibilities extend to the suitability inspection of vessels designated for subsea operations and the oversight of asset transportation and mobilisation activities of project assets.

The ABL team, supported by a network of marine surveyors in the Gulf region, will manage the project with work scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2024.

ABL Americas energy services director David Ballands said: “We are pleased to be supporting LLOG as MWS on the Salamanca subsea development.

“We will apply our extensive MWS experience from the Gulf of Mexico, together with our multidisciplinary marine and engineering expertise in Houston to ensure the subsea equipment is transported and installed safely and efficiently.”

The project involves the development of the Leon and Castille oil fields, with subsea pipelines connecting to the Salamanca floating production facility.

The Salamanca Deepwater Project is set to advance the exploitation of oil fields located at depths between 1.8km and 2km.

The project’s subsea scope includes the installation of three infield pipelines and the design and fabrication of subsea structures.

Last year, LLOG Exploration Offshore selected Subsea7 as the project manager for the Salamanca development project.

The scope of the contract includes the installation of three infield subsea pipeline systems, as well as the design and fabrication of subsea structures.

Subsea7 will also install oil and gas export pipelines that depart from the Salamanca FPS and tie into existing pipeline transport systems.
