Engineering company Aker Solutions is set to build a complete digital replica of Wintershall’s Nova production system in the Norwegian North Sea for data-driven engineering, production and maintenance decisions.
Discovered in 2012, the Nova field is situated in the Quadrant 35 area and a majority of the discovery is located in production licence PL 418, with a possible extension into PL 378.
As part of two separately signed agreements, Aker Solutions will provide a fully interactive digital replica of the integrated Nova production system.
The company will also undertake a study to enable live data streaming and condition monitoring of the subsea production equipment.
The study will drive forward real-time subsea condition monitoring, production optimisation and predictive maintenance for the Nova field.
Aker Solutions software development head Are Føllesdal Tjønn said: “These groundbreaking pieces of work will ensure that the Nova field operates as a truly digital asset.
“We are delighted to work with our customer to support the realisation of their ambitious digital plans and to help set new standards for the energy industry.”
Serving as an advanced replacement to traditional paper-based handbooks and equipment documentation, the digital twin will ensure that all relevant engineering data is held in a single, interactive and searchable solution.
Set to be built on a Cloud-based architecture capable of processing live data, it will ensure that key engineering information is updated at all times.
Last February, Wintershall awarded two subsea contracts to Aker Solutions and Subsea 7 Norway for the Nova field, with a combined value of around $230m.
