Claxton has won a contract from Det norske oljeselskap of Norway to provide drilling risers for the lvar Aasen field development.

Under the contract, Claxton will provide high and low-pressure surface drilling risers, auxiliary equipment and services offshore Norway.

Claxton will provide a 7,000psi subsea riser for the Hanz field and 15,000psi high and low-pressure surface risers, which will be used to explore wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The contract has options for other field development projects and high-pressure, high-temperature work during its period.

The optional arrangements require Claxton to provide complete equipment running services and centraliser systems, along with lateral and vertical tension rings.

Ivar Aasen Field is located in the northern part of the North Sea, west of the Johan Sverdrup Field.

The development of the field features three discoveries, namely Ivar Aasen, West Cable and Hanz, with the first two fields to be developed under phase one and Hanz field as part of phase two.

Ivar Aasen is located in production licence PL001B, Hanz in PL028B and West Cable in PL242, all within Blocks 16/1 and 25/10 in the North Sea at a water depth of around 112m.

The three fields are estimated to hold reserves of approximately 150 million barrels of oil equivalent.
