US-based subsea tooling manufacturer Seanic Ocean Systems and CSA Ocean Sciences have jointly launched a programme to respond to challenges faced by the oil industry.

The strategic alliance will address increasing regulations and environmental stewardship concerns faced by the global oil industry.

In addition, the partnership aims to improve oil spill response equipment and services worldwide.

"As environmental regulations evolve, water depths increase, and locations become more remote, cost-effective solutions become more important than ever."

CSA Ocean Sciences president Kevin Peterson said: "Seanic’s Remote Systems Technology combined with CSA’s experience in environmental sciences will allow us to approach oil spill response, particularly the application and monitoring of dispersants, in a unique and innovative manner.

"As environmental regulations evolve, water depths increase, and locations become more remote, cost-effective solutions based on solid science and technology become more important than ever."

Currently, both companies support the oil spill response needs of the energy industry.

The companies jointly provide a range of specialised equipment and services ranging from engineered solutions to oceanographic sensors and developing dispersant monitoring plans.

The programme will leverage on Seanic’s expertise in ROV tooling, engineering solutions, and the maintenance and improvement of oil spill equipment.

Meanwhile, CSA will contribute to the programme with its 46 years of specialised experience in marine environmental consulting.
