SLB OneSubsea has signed an agreement with Vår Energi to deliver subsea production systems (SPS) for upcoming projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

This collaboration builds on their existing strategic partnership focusing on standardised subsea equipment to support multiple oil and gas developments in Norway.

SLB OneSubsea is a joint venture supported by SLB, Aker Solutions and Subsea7.

The agreement involves an SPS pre-commitment programme, with work commencing immediately to deliver two equipment packages.

The first package includes a complete SPS system comprising four vertical subsea trees, wellheads, templates, manifolds, umbilicals and associated equipment.

SLB said this system can be deployed by Vår Energi to any field within its portfolio.

The second package focuses on the engineering and procurement of components for another SPS system of the same size.

This approach aims to reduce lead times for future project developments, allowing Vår Energi to expedite subsea projects on the NCS.

SLB OneSubsea CEO Mads Hjelmeland said: “Simplification is key to unlocking more resources, faster, and this novel approach stems from Vår Energi’s long-term, strong commitment to our standard, configurable solutions.

“This is a significant step forward for our partnership, and we are grateful for our open, collaborative relationship with Vår that now leads to such new ways of creating mutual value for both companies.”

SLB OneSubsea’s standard, configurable subsea platform is central to these packages, facilitating faster project delivery from final investment decisions to execution.

This strategy aligns with Vår Energi’s goal to accelerate developments across its project pipeline on the NCS.

In addition to the SPS agreement, Vår Energi has recently engaged Reelwell in a multi-year contract to implement its DualLink powered digital drill pipe technology offshore on the NCS.

Reelwell, in collaboration with Odfjell Technology, will deploy DualLink for the first time in offshore operations on the NCS.
