Energy data provider TGS has agreed terms with Empresa Nacional de Pesquisa e Exploração (PetroGuin) to secure the rights to reprocess the JAAN 3D seismic dataset across Guinea-Bissau on a multi-client basis.
The project covers more than 11,000km² of 3D seismic data.

Processing is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026 (Q4 2026), with final products estimated in Q4 2027.
TGS will carry out the work with GeoPartners. The company plans to use elastic dynamic-matching full waveform inversion and Kirchhoff pre-stack depth migration (KPSDM) in the reprocessing programme.
The work follows a 2019 PSDM reprocessing project undertaken by the parties.
PetroGuin general director Alfredo Malu said: “PetroGuin highly values its long-standing partnership with TGS and reaffirms its commitment to fully honouring all obligations undertaken under this collaboration, in support of the sustainable development of Guinea-Bissau’s oil and gas sector.”
TGS said the planned techniques are intended to improve the imaging of clastic and carbonate targets across the margin.
TGS executive vice-president David Hajovsky said: “This agreement with PetroGuin allows us to apply our latest imaging technologies to a large 3D dataset across Guinea-Bissau.
“This reprocessing will deliver a clear step change in image quality, helping companies better evaluate both clastic and carbonate plays across the margin.”
According to TGS, the updated data will support companies assessing prospectivity and planning future exploration work in Guinea-Bissau.
The companies signed the agreement in person during African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town.
In August this year, TGS and Geophysical Technology entered into a four-year strategic collaboration intended to deliver integrated seismic acquisition solutions across shallow water, transition zone and deepwater environments.
