Trinity Exploration and Production has signed a partnership to pilot the use of Weatherford International’s ForeSite Production Optimisation Production 4.0 platform in order to improve performance on its wells in Trinidad and Tobago.

Weatherford’s ForeSite platform provides software and optimisation technology for real-time pumps monitoring and has been deployed on both progressive cavity and sucker rod pumps.

This technology is a combination of Weatherford production optimisation technologies with the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud computing and advanced analytics.

ForeSite will enable Trinity to identify and prioritise production optimisation opportunities. It includes Weatherford’s flow control technology (FCT) and ForeSite edge technologies at the wellhead and works in parallel with ForeSite Production Optimisation software to provide a complete wellhead to desktop solution.

Trinity Exploration and Production executive chairman Bruce Dingwall said: “This system has the potential to assist in our decision-making and planning process as we focus on achieving our production targets.

“When you couple this state-of-the-art measurement and production optimisation alongside the Company’s ambitious plans to drill the first onshore High Angle Well in Trinidad, as part of the company’s 2019 drilling campaign, it is clear that Trinity is a technical leader in its field.”

The technology will be first assessed through a trial period, and if successful, Trinity will continue to use production optimisation to reduce operating costs and increase production from individual wells.
