Bayards - Aluminium Helidecks for the Offshore Industry

Bayards is one of the world's leading aluminium construction companies. Bayards has 50 years of experience in complex aluminium structures, and has been building aluminium helidecks for the offshore industry for over 25 years.

The offshore industry is an important market for Bayards, as aluminium is the ideal material to use in the marine environment and can be the perfect solution when a rig structure or vessel has weight limitations.

Turnkey helidecks

At our fabrication yards in the Netherlands we build complete turnkey helidecks. When finished, they are transported via barge to the client's fabrication yard and from there they can be directly installed on the vessel or platform.

We can supply turnkey helidecks complete with lighting, fire fighting systems, winterisation and refuelling units if required.

Customised offshore helidecks

Regulations, the location of the helideck on the vessel/rig and client requirements are all factors that can affect helideck design. To deal with these issues, Bayards can manufacture customised offshore helidecks.

Designing and building helidecks is an important part of Bayards' business but our capabilities extend much further. We are a specialised aluminium fabricator in the broadest sense of the word, and can design and build hydraulically foldable helidecks, reopenable hatches in helidecks, hybrid helidecks, and much more.

Helideck assembly kits

Where it is not possible to deliver a complete helideck, Bayards can supply its offshore helidecks as prefabricated assembly kits. These helideck assembly kits can be shipped anywhere in the world and then assembled by local labour under the supervision of Bayards personnel.

Our helideck assembly kits are completely bolted so no on-site welding is required. No special tools or heavy cranes are needed, and all Bayards helideck assembly kits are supplied with safety netting and perimeter gutting.

Aluminium helideck support structures

Years of experience in constructing aluminium helidecks and other large aluminium structures have made Bayards an expert in engineering and fabricating complete aluminium helideck support structures.

Most offshore platforms still have conventional steel helideck support structures, which can weigh up to three times the weight of an aluminium helideck support structure. In contrast, a Bayards aluminium helideck support structure weighs less than the pancake itself, and is maintenance-free and extremely cost-effective.

Offshore helideck lighting, fire fighting systems and winterisation

Visual aids are extremely important on a helideck. Bayards can supply an assembly kit or turnkey structure for perimeter lighting, flood lighting, helideck status light systems, illuminated windsocks, custom-made control panels, and walkway lighting.

Helideck fire fighting systems form a crucial part of safely landing a helicopter. Bayards can supply its helidecks with a fire fighting system according to any client or regulation requirement. In addition to deck-integrated fire fighting systems Bayards can supply extinguisher units, foam monitor systems, rescue equipment and firemen's equipment.

Helidecks on vessels or platforms that operate in sub-zero conditions need to be kept snow and ice-free for safe helicopter landings and crew changes. We can equip the helideck landing circle, whole pancake or even the piping and access system with electrical heat tracing to prevent snow and ice building up.
