Global renewable refinery production capacity is expected to more than double during 2023–2027, potentially increasing from 7,812 million gallons per year (mmgy) in 2023 to 24,407 mmgy in 2027.

North America’s renewable refinery production capacity is expected to reach 13,142 mmgy in 2027, the highest among all regions globally. Europe and Asia follow with 3,882 mmgy and 3,522 mmgy, respectively.

Among countries, the US leads globally with the highest renewable production capacity of 8,987 mmgy by 2027. Of this, 6,237 mmgy capacity is likely to come from new build projects and the rest of the capacity is from the expansion of existing projects. Panama follows the US with an estimated capacity addition of 1,733 mmgy by 2027 through a standalone Ciudad Dorada Renewable refinery. It will be operated by SGP BioEnergy Holdings LLC and is expected to start operations by 2025.
