A special highlight in the year 2010 is the new cable gland EXIOS from Hummel. These cable glands for armoured resp. reinforced cable are designed for use in so-called hazardous areas and are equipped with some new and innovative features.

EXIOS has already been certified as per the latest IECEx and ATEX standards. The requirements in regard to pull relief and density have been increased dramatically through a more demanding aging test. The new EXIOS reliably meets these requirements.

Through the special interlocking armour cone it is ensured that, during the assembly, no torsion is transferred onto the cable wires resp. onto the cable.

With nine sizes and connecting threads from M16 to M75 and 3/8in NPT to 3in NPT, Hummel offers an innovative programme for all common cable diameters. The double seal on the outer and inner cable sheath is effected by the time-proven Hummel clamping system. The interaction between the resistant silicone seal and the clamp unit of the fire protection class V-0 provides for an excellent dual seal on the cable.

Assembly is simplified by an extra grippy profile material, and the extra wide spanner flats offer a maximum on power transfer.

The EXIOS cable gland is registered in accord with the spark protection types increased safety Ex-e and pressure-resistant casing Ex-d and can be used in Zones 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22.

Hummel has for many years produced a unique programme of cable glands for use in explosion-protected areas. In addition to the cable glands for armoured cable presented last year, Hummel now underlines with EXIOS the quality demands that Hummel sets for itself.
