gas compression

Holland-Controls has completed the upgrade of three Allison KC5 units for Fluxys Belgium.

Fluxys Belgium operates three Rolls-Royce Allison KC5 gas compression packages at its Berneau station.

Holland-Controls replaced the old FT110-based control system with a Rockwell Control-Logix system and a Phoenix SIL-rated safety system. The Flex-IO nests were retained, but the communication was modernised from a redundant ControlNet architecture to an Ethernet Ring network. This also meant that the complex IS-conversion nest could be removed. The control algorithms were modernised with respect to start control and bleed valve control.

The control panels are completely new, and include the power distribution for the auxiliary loads such as heaters and a demister fan. The panels are fed with a three-phase 400 Vac supply (non-secure) and a one-phase 230 Vac supply (secure). The 24 Vdc power supply system is redundant for maximum availability.

The existing HMI systems were retained and adapted accordingly.
