duty cycle crawler crane

The first unit of the HS 8300 HD, Liebherr’s largest duty cycle crawler crane, will be delivered to Chioggia, Italy.

Starting in early 2016, the local customer Zeta will use the crane for dredging work in the Mediterranean Sea.

The HS 8300 HD, weighing approximately 240t, will be mounted on a pedestal as part of the equipment of a vessel weighing 41,000t. The vessel is intended to maintain waterways through the dredging of canals that run the risk of becoming silted. Thanks to its solid uppercarriage the duty cycle crawler crane is ideally designed to withstand the high dynamic loads prevailing during dredging jobs.

For the operation in Italy the crane is equipped with a 41m main boom and a hydraulic underwater two-rope clamshell offering a capacity of 20m³. In addition, it is fitted with the Pactronic hybrid drive for a further increase in performance. The HS 8300 HD offers a maximum dredging depth of 25m with hydraulic grab and up to 200m with mechanical grab. The maximum dredging depth can be pre-set for automatic control.

With the order of an HS 8300 HD by the US construction company Vulcan Materials a second machine was recently sold. It will be used in dragline operation in the Mexican Calica mine.
