Quasar 900 Gas Detector Certified for Ex Zone 1 Areas

The new SafEye Quasar 900 Series, with a range of models offering detection path lengths up to 200m, has been fully certified for use in Ex Zone 1 areas to ATEX, IECEx, FM and FMC standards. The Quasar 900’s transmitter and receiver are each housed in a rugged, 316l stainless-steel Ex-approved enclosure. Each main enclosure is EExd flame-proof with an integral, segregated, EExe-increased safety terminal section. Via the intrinsically safe approved data port on the receiver, a hand-held communication unit can be connected in-situ, for prognostic and diagnostic maintenance.

Quasar 900 is approved to:

  • FM/FMC per Class I Div 1 Group B, C and D and Class I, II Div 1 Group E, F and G
  • ATEX/IECEx per II 2(2)G D Ex d e ib [ib Gb] IIB + H2 T4 Gb, Ex tb IIIC T135°C Db

These approvals combined with successful completion of independent functional performance testing by Factory Mutual to both FM and European performance standards, along with SIL2 reliability approval (TUV), provide users with every assurance of a reliable safety system.
