Exxon Mobil has selected Glamal Engineering, a company from the north east of the UK, to supply custom-made pipes, fittings and flanges across two five-year contracts worth over €5m.

The company has awarded its five-year pan-European agreement to the Galperti Group, of which Glamal Engineering will service the Fawley refinery in Southampton. The contract is a crucial win for Glamal, as it is keen to consolidate its portfolio of high-profile blue-chip clients.

In addition, Glamal has also been appointed to deliver Exxon’s five-year framework agreement, which will service the Sarpom and Augusta refineries in Northern Italy and Sicily.

Over the course of the five years, Glamal will supply the Italian refinery with approximately 7,500 tonnes of bespoke pipes, fittings and flanges in an array of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel.

While Glamal Engineering is based in the north east of England and will export the bulk of the custom made materials direct to Italy, it is also ideally placed to supply the refinery’s daily needs, as it has an established network of strategic alliances across Italy.

Neil Pentland, managing director of Glamal Engineering, says: “The Exxon framework agreement is a particularly high-profile contract and heralds a new way of operating for our company, as we will be able to fully utilise our Italian partners, Galperti, to support the general daily needs of the refinery, while ensuring that the bespoke elements of the agreement are serviced from our factory in the north east of England.

“That we were selected to deliver both the framework agreement and pan-European agreement is testament to our reputation for delivering exceptional standards of customer service and excellent value, as well as our commitment to supplying the highest quality materials. To have secured two significant streams of work from yet another blue-chip client is also strategically crucial for our business, as we continue to operate in a challenging and unpredictable economic climate.”

Glamal Engineering’s strength is built on its ability to stock and supply pipes, fittings and flanges in a range of materials including carbon, stainless, duplex, super duplex, nickel alloy, copper nickel, 6MO and chrome molybdenum steels. As a result, it has carved out a niche reputation for itself not only in the region, but internationally.
