China’s oil & gas industry registered a 0.6% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.01% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.53% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 102.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s oil & gas industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 64.58% in September 2021, registering a 6.9% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.67% share, an increase of 100% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.42%, registering a 37.5% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.33%, up 300% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 16.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Yara International posted 10 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 9.09% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 10 jobs and a 16.67% drop. Baker Hughes Holdings with 7 IT jobs and Dow with 4 jobs, recorded a 250% flat growth and a 100% flat growth, respectively, while BASF recorded an increase of 33.33% with 4 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.25%, down by 22.86% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 37.5% share, registered an increase of 38.46% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.25% share, up 50% over August 2021.
