The Energy Products Division (EPD) of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the leader in motion and control technologies, has been awarded a contract for the production and supply of 111km (364,173ft) of infield cables, accessories and offshore services by Van Oord for the DanTysk offshore wind farm project. The production work, manufactured from EPD’s Tønsberg manufacturing plant, will begin in 2012 with delivery in the spring of 2013.

The DanTysk wind farm is a joint venture between Vattenfall Europe Windkraft and StadtwerkeMünchen. Vattenfall is responsible for the construction and operation of the wind farm, located approximately 70km west of Sylt, Germany; an island in the North Sea. The 80 turbines have a total capacity of 288MW and can generate electricity for up to 300,000 households.

Parker EPD’s contract with Van Oord encompasses design, production and delivery as well as connection consulting during the installation of the cables to the 80 steel foundations. Parker’s infield cabling will connect the wind turbines with the offshore transformer station. Parker submarine cables are engineered and constructed to be especially robust in order to reduce maintenance. The cable lengths will be delivered in four shipments from the fabrication yard of EPD’s production facility in Tønsberg, Norway.
