During the recent months SAS has received three new contracts for the supply of pipe lay systems from customers in South East Asia. The systems are to be used on-board conventional S-lay pipelay barges and capacities vary in the range from 60mt to 120mt. Pipe diameters to be laid are up to 60in in diameter.

The pipelay systems will be delivered at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. With these new contracts SAS further strengthens its strong position in South-East Asia.

In Holland a contract has been awarded for the supply of four mooring winches with passive heave compensators by Heerema Marine Contractors. The winches will be installed on-board one of their construction vessels and will be used to moor supply barges along the vessel. These barges need to be kept in place along the vessel for longer periods of time during a job offshore and thus have to cope with various sea conditions.

All four electric winches will be provided with an integrated SAS passive heave compensator and a swivel anchor fairlead and spooling gear. The winches will come complete with drives and also feature a constant tension control system.

The equipment is scheduled to be installed on-board the vessel at the beginning of 2010.
