The Design and Development of the Newly Built Yacht Carrier

By Leenaars Marine & Offshore Design

Dry transportation of mega yachts was first developed by Dockexpress. The yacht could be sailed onto the partly sunken vessel and was fastened. This minimised the damage from both lifting of the yacht but also during the trip.

Developments in the yachting market demanded more from Dockexpress and the idea arose to develop a similar dedicated tool solely directed to the carrying of Yachts. The mission was clear: develop a yacht carrier, 32 meter wide with the maximum possible length in order to maximize intake with a maximum depth of 8.5 meter and a trial speed of 18 knots (fig. 1). This design has been executed by Leenaars BV.
