Compact 27G

Pentair, a global leader in the treatment, transfer and flow of water and other fluids, will showcase its latest innovations and solutions to reduce, recover and reuse water at the Membrane Technology Conference & Exposition hosted by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) in San Antonio, Texas, between 1 and 5 February 2016.

AWWA/AMTA is the premier event for membrane technology and applications in North America. The conference reveals new directions in water and wastewater treatment technologies, desalination, and membrane bioreactor applications.

Pentair will highlight its X-Flow advanced membrane and Codeline pressure vessel product lines, both global leaders in their respective fields at Booth 320. Attendees will have the opportunity to view Pentair’s latest innovations and solutions, including its breakthrough Helix flux enhancement technology and the robust Aqualine system.

Helix Technology: increase productivity while lowering energy consumption

For industrial processing and water reuse applications, X-Flow’s next generation tubular membrane with Helix technology helps to address a bottleneck in high-solids ultrafiltration (UF) by preventing the buildup of foulants.

With advanced hydrodynamics, Helix can help enhance flux, increase flow and save energy. By introducing turbulence right at the membrane wall, the innovative Helix technology provides continuous mixing and efficient removal of the cake layer that would otherwise reduce the membrane’s hydraulic permeability.

The resulting higher permeate flow contributes to higher productivity and lower energy costs. Due to the effective membrane cleaning at low crossflow velocities, Helix significantly reduces the energy footprint compared to standard tubular membrane solutions.

Case Study: Performance Comparison

Immediately after its introduction late last year, Helix started delivering promising results. At Hooge Maey, a landfill in Antwerp, Belgium, Pentair initially installed two units, each with six X-Flow Compact 27G membrane modules for leachate treatment. In 2015, the six standard modules in one unit were replaced with Compact 27G Helix membrane modules. Flux and flow improved by 61%. The feedwater quality is 4.000ppm COD and the permeate quality is 600ppm COD.

  • Technology: Crossflow MBR
  • Crossflow velocity: 3.5m/s
  • Feed water: 13,000mg/l solids
  • Increase of productivity: between 40% and 50%
  • Energy saved: 35%

Aqualine: maximise the performance of water treatment and purification systems

The Aqualine system is a robust technology suited as a pre-filtration solution for industrial water challenges in various industries. The Aqualine system helps to enable lower capital and operating costs while offering a smaller equipment footprint, as well as fast and easy changeouts.

Aqualine utilises Codeline FRP housings, which can provide a 50% reduction in capital expenditure compared to typical steel vessels. The key to performance is advanced separation technology, and Pentair’s high-tech media delivers the required efficiency and performance.
