i-Tech is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract for drill support ROV services by BP Australia.

The contract scope is for the provision of ROV support services onboard the newbuild semi-submersible drilling rig Ocean GreatWhite. The rig, currently under construction, will undertake its maiden contract with BP Australia from 2016 during which time i-Tech will provide ROV support services for the duration. i-Tech will also mobilise an ROV onboard a vessel contracted to support the drilling operations.

i-Tech’s managing director Bruce Masson commented: "We are pleased to be awarded this significant contract, which allows us to build on our leading position for ROV services in Australia.

"This award further underlines our relationship with BP whom we have worked with for many years in a variety of locations and we are pleased that they have chosen us to support their ongoing exploration activities in a growing oil and gas region."

Brian Reid, i-Tech’s senior commercial manager added "This prestigious contract award comes to i-Tech at a time when we are solidifying our position in Australia with the opening of our new operations and commercial base in Wangara, Western Australia.

"The new facility allows us to meet the needs of customers such as BP who rightly demand that we can mobilise, service and repair our systems through a substantial presence in-country. We are delighted that BP has selected i-Tech for its ROV provision onboard its newbuild drilling rig and we look forward to working with them to deliver the service."
