Rajant’s kinetic mesh networking technology provides ready access to multi-frequency broadband. Easily deployed, resilient and economical, Rajant networks are proven, trusted performers in harsh environments and demanding industries where any network node can be in motion and downtime is not an option.

Rajant is the pioneer of kinetic mesh networks and a provider of pervasive, multi-frequency wireless solutions, which allow for secure communications on-the-move through a portable meshed wireless network that can rapidly reconfigure and adapt in real-time.

Offshore broadband connectivity for critical remote infrastructure

With increased oil and gas exploration and production underway worldwide, the potential for devastating accidents and dangerous terrorist strikes also increases. Meanwhile, offshore communications – particularly reliable, multi-frequency broadband networking – presents multiple challenges because it typically incorporates a variety of fixed, moving, manned and unmanned assets.

The ability to reliably network these assets represents a substantial advantage in terms of safety and disaster preparations. Only Rajant’s kinetic mesh networking technology offers a reliable solution for connecting the myriad equipment, vehicles, vessels and people that drive these industries.

High-reliability wireless kinetic mesh networking technology

The powerful flexibility of Rajant’s wireless BreadCrumb network nodes and InstaMesh routing technology can be applied to virtually any remote or offshore critical infrastructure where broadband data and communications are needed. For example, a cluster of Rajant BreadCrumb nodes situated on a group of wells, pipelines or drilling platforms are readily connected via satellite transponder to satisfy a full range of voice, video and data communications needs.

Rajant networks are designed for rapid deployment, resilience and flexibility, and can handle the application data and communications traffic required by such large-scale operations. With Rajant technology, all network nodes can be in motion all the time, and there is no single ‘controller’ node on the network – so no single point of failure.

The resilient broadband network ensures that voice, video and data can securely and reliably flow between all nodes in the network. The range of applications supported by this technology is virtually unlimited; from remote monitoring of platform and equipment conditions, to voice and data communications, as well as video security.

Wireless portable mesh network nodes for offshore applications

Rajant offers a variety of wireless BreadCrumb network nodes and configurations to meet your unique kinetic mesh networking needs. From the BreadCrumb LX family and ME models to the ultra-portable BreadCrumb JR2 and the multi-BreadCrumb RAPTR, Rajant has the combination of form factors, radios and functionality to address any need.

All Rajant BreadCrumbs are ruggedly-designed specifically to withstand the challenging conditions encountered in oil and gas, military, mining, first responder and other applications.

Kinetic mesh networking solutions for the offshore industry

InstaMesh is an advanced routing protocol developed by Rajant. It allows for continuous and instantaneous routing of wireless and wired connections; it also enables complete network mobility, robust fault tolerance, high throughput and low latency, all with minimal maintenance and administration.

BreadCrumb network nodes work in concert with InstaMesh to enable voice, video and data communications to operate over a common wireless infrastructure, even while all nodes are moving. In addition to providing true mobility, InstaMesh enables dynamic frequency utilization, allowing network nodes to seamlessly switch between available radio frequencies based on best-path analysis at the node level. Multi-frequency radios avoid frequency lock-in and provide operators greater flexibility to leverage additional frequencies.

Kinetic mesh network management software package

BC|Commander is Rajant’s network management software package used for monitoring the status of kinetic mesh networks formed using Rajant BreadCrumb wireless network nodes and InstaMesh routing technology. Using BC|Commander, administrators can configure the BreadCrumbs and graphically depict the network topology.

Advanced offshore network administration and monitoring tool

RRADS is an advanced network administration, monitoring and diagnostic tool that automates many of the functions typically performed by remote network support personnel.

With RRADS, users of Rajant’s kinetic mesh networking technology gain ready access to performance and usage data from Rajant BreadCrumb nodes on the network, then use this information to make the necessary adjustments and optimize network performance without consulting technical support.

Each RRADS unit consists of a ruggedized CPU, running an array of advanced software tools. Accessible via any web browser, it tracks the performance of network components via native API communications with BreadCrumb nodes. Equipped with up to three radios (to match the frequencies of those in the network’s BreadCrumbs), RRADS performs packet capture across the network and provides a graphic representation of node connectivity.

Network Innovation on the Move: Bringing the Private Wireless Network to Life with Rajant Kinetic Mesh Technology

In response to the growing demands for anywhere, anytime communications by organizations and consumers in almost every industry, today's networks, both wired and wireless, are evolving dramatically. A network's success no longer hinges on its ability to provide simple connectivity; it must truly empower those it is serving, removing constraints that hinder accessibility and working intelligently, flexibly, and seamlessly to optimize productivity.

Does Free WiFi Really Increase Ticket Sales?

The problem with offering free WiFi to train customers is it's hard to know how much they value it. Do they simply expect it to be there, as it is on many buses, in McDonalds eateries and even pubs? Or do they rush home, tell their friends and put their cars on e-Bay in order to fund greater train travel?

Rajant Releases Paper on Portable Wireless Mesh Networks

Rajant's autonomous networks are completely portable and can easily support roving nodes and sensors over areas of hundreds of square miles or more. Operators have full configuration control and the flexibility to customize deployments based on changing field requirements.
